806 NO-HUDDLE, WEEK TWO RECAP: HERE COMES THE MATS AND THE FALCONS, DUMAS GETTING HOT..

Week two was a great slate of action and I'm here to recap it all; from the Mats' impressive win, to Lubbock-Cooper finishing like a champion. Also, there are some teams in trouble and need to right the ship soon.

6A RECAP:

Well, let's get to it. Tascosa lost a thriller to Amarillo Friday night, 36-33 on a catch that has been up for discussion wondering if Peyton Conner's foot was down or not. In my opinion, I'll side with the referees; everybody wants to be a decider, but no one is signing up to be a ref. It's over and I think we all should move on. Tascosa will be fine and Amarillo will be as well. It was a great contest! Now it's time to get better for both teams and get ready to play in two of the toughest districts in West Texas for a playoff spot. Also, Texas Tech 2020 commit, LB Moore, will be cleared for play starting this week as he hasn't played all season due to a shoulder injury.

5A RECAP:

How about the Pirates? Locked in a great game with the Coronado Mustangs that was tied at 14 heading into the 4th quarter, the Pirates finished the game on a 21-0 spurt to win over the Mustangs, 35-21. Isaiah Johnson and Nehemiah Martinez each combined for 283 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Ryan Wilcox also had a pick-six as well for LCP! Palo Duro also got their first win of the season with a 32-28 win over Plainview in an action-packed game! Monterey started off the week with a blowout of Abilene Wylie, 49-26. Monterey's Coreon Bailey of Monterey had 377 total yards and five-total touchdowns and also had four last week against Odessa! Zyion Martin had over 100 yards receiving and a score as well.

4A RECAP:

The Estacado Matadors went up to Harvester land and pulled out a huge win over Pampa, 30-26! Jermiah Dobbins ran for 254 yards on 27 carries, KeKe Murray had two interceptions and Sederick Colbert had nine tackles for the Mats'. They are finising this season and these wins will pay off later on in the playoffs. Dumas is still orange-hot with their 48-28 win over the Caprock Longhorns on Thursday night. Is Caprock in a little trouble? These last two games they have given up 40 points twice and are still trying to find their way offensively. It won't get any easier as they come to Lowery Field to take on the Matadors on Firday. Big wins for Canyon, Perryton and Borger as well on Friday!

3A RECAP:

Abernathy put it to Sundown on Friday as Bryson Daily had four more touchdowns for the

Antelopes in the decisive victory. Canadian beat up on River Road again as they won the contest, 42-14. Bushland had to be the team in 3A that had the best performance with a 61-8 rout of Dalhart! The Falcons are soaring and look really good to come out of 3ADI! Slaton defeated Brownfield, 13-12 and held off a greatly inspired team effort from the Cubs! Brownfield is trending up and will be a force this season! Shallowater with a big win over Levelland as well! Idalou gave it everything they had in their 22-21 loss to Seminole. The Wildcats will not be going away this season and will be tough to deal with!

2A/PRIVATE SCHOOL RECAP:

The Post Antelopes went to Forsan and shut them down, 32-0. The Antelopes are very experineced and have a team that looks to really be coming into their own! 2A BEWARE! How about West Texas and their win at Stratford! The Comanches may be the last team standing in 2ADI with a shot at Crawford or San Saba when it's all said and done. Sudan had another impressive victory, this one over New Home on Friday 46-7. Now, can Sudan keep this going in the playoffs? Ralls had another impressive win over Springlake-Earth and are continung their winning ways from last season. Wellington beat another Oklahoma team, New Deal blew out Muleshoe and on the Private school side, Trinity and Lubbock Christain were victorious!
