TIGERETTES ON THE PROWL FOR GOLD THIS TIME AROUND IN AUSTIN

Slaton is back to Austin this year, and hopes to win it all this time

Slaton's Tigerettes are on their way to setting a tradition for their track team, especially their 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams. Last year, Slaton made a trip to state with their 4x100 team, but with a 49.50, it was only good for eighth place. Also, this year the Tigerettes will bring their 4x200 really team to Austin again with a 3A Region One best 1:42.55; a full two seconds ahead of the pack! Last year, Slaton finished third in the 4x200 with a great effort. Will this be the year the Tigerettes' bring home the gold?

Coach Klafka instructs his team during practice

I went out and observed the Tigerettes practice this morning and saw a lot of fun, a lot of running, and plenty of instruction from Coach Klafka as they look ahead to State on Friday. Baton handoffs was paramount and one baton was thrown away due to the girls dropping it in practice!

TA'KAJA IS IN FOR A LONG DAY FRIDAY, COMPETING IN FIVE EVENTS!

TK WILL BE COMPETING IN 5 STATE EVENTS FRIDAY!

How about Ta'Kaja's day on Friday? She will compete in the Long Jump and the Triple Jump during the morning session, and then compete in the 4x100, 4x200, and the 200 Meter dash in the afternoon session! She is the only athlete in the 806 that will be in five events in one day, and that is a hell of an accomplishment!

KAMRYN GIBBS IS JUST GETTING WARMED UP..

Kamryn Gibbs looks to be %100 at just the right time!

Kamryn is one of the girls on the team that also plays softball along with running track! So, you could possibly see her compete Friday in Austin and then have to come back the next day and play in her softball team's game on Saturday! Coach Klafka told me she tore her ACL last year and has rebounded nicely on the track after her first action this year at the New Deal meet. Expect Gibbs to be ready and fast for both races on Friday.

In conclusion, Xazari Naylor, Zanady Coronado, Kamryn Gibbs, and TK Robinson along with alternates Natali Soto and Ti'Alice Young should be prepared and ready for a serious shot at a few golds this year in Austin! Stay tuned as I will keep you updated on all events for these young ladies and the rest of the 806!

Here is the video of the Tigerettes' practice this morning!
