THE TWELVE SCARIEST GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYERS IN THE 806 THIS SEASON
Updated: Oct 31, 2022
Since it's Halloween, I thought I would scare you guys with the top ten girls basketball players in the 806! The basketball season starts Friday so good luck to all! Here are some players to keep an eye on!
1 AALIYAH CHAVEZ
MONTEREY HIGH SCHOOL

Who is more scarier in the open floor in the nation than Aaliyah Chavez! The 15-year-old prospect is ranked third in the NATION in her 2025 class and to a lot of people, including me, think she should be ranked first. She averaged 26 points and eight assists a game last season for the Lady Plainsmen and also reached 1,000 points in her freshman season. Here's the scary thing: She's getting better!
2 MECAILIN MARSHALL
LUBBOCK HS

Marshall has really come on as of late and quickly hit the National scene with her outstanding play on the Summer circuit with Lady Fam Elite out of Houston, TX. Mecailin has garnered some major National attention and received a couple of Division One offers as well so far. She has a lot of room to grow; and that's scary in itself, knowing how good she is already!
3 KELLY MORA
MONTEREY HS

Kelly Mora averaged 20 points and eleven rebounds a game last season while coming off of an ACL injury that sidelined her for the Sophomore season. Now, fully healthy and focused, be on the lookout for a scary Senior Campaign! What a summer she had with a CyFair Elite Championship and a verbal Commit to Coach Gerlich and Texas Tech. So, if you ask Kelly what's next, she'll tell you a State Title for the Lady Plainsmen.. Scary Hours!
4 TAYTUM BELL
AMARILLO SANDIES

Here's the scary thing for me: I don't know if it's Sandies or Sandstorm, but I'm sure I'll get clarification on that soon as we get down the line on the schedule! Taytum Bell is a grinder! She works very hard in the trenches down low in the paint and has range out to the three-point line! Very quiet and humble, but is dangerous on the court and that's why she has a ton of offers in her 2024 class!
5 MAJIK ESQUIVEL
LUBBOCK-COOPER PIRATES

It's Majik! I love her game! When she is on, it's a problem as I've seen her myself hit five bombs in a row this summer for her Texas Lonestar Adidas team! Esquivel really flourished under Coach Lovorn and his wide-open offense last season and will be leaps-and-bounds better with her second season with the Lady Pirates. There aren't too many females in Texas that are scarier that Majik when her jumper is cooking!!
6 MADY WILLIAMS
PLAINVIEW HIGH SCHOOL

Mady Williams is the fastest player in the 806 with the ball in her hands! Lightning-fast and she loves contact and can finish while being fouled! She will come into this season as the unquestioned leader for the Lady Bulldogs of Plainview and will be counted on to make it happen for her squad! This is a big year and summer upcoming for Mady: She knows that and she will be ready.
7 SADIE SANCHEZ
RANDALL LADY RAIDERS

Sadie is good... Very Good! I've gotten to see her a lot this summer playing with Hoop 10 and she is scary because she can finish on all three levels of the court! Playing on the big circuit this summer, she dazzled in the open floor while hitting almost all of her jumpers. The scary thought to me this: She is working hard every day to get better! She will be a steal in the 2025 class and should have another All-State Campaign in 2025!
8 AMBROSIA "BRO BRO" COLE
MONTEREY PLAINSMEN

Ambrosia is one of the scariest players in the open floor in the COUNTRY! It's going to be hard to stay in front of her and now playing alongside Kelly Mora and Aaliyah Chavez will make her even more of a threat this season for Monterey! She will have some growing pains early, but beware of her when it counts; District play and the playoffs! She will have multiple offers before the season is over in her 2026 class.
9 ADDISYN BOLLINGER
FRENSHIP TIGERS

Addisyn has one of the biggest upsides for anyone in the 2026 class in Texas, which makes her very scary because she is already polished and has a dangerous jumper! She will have to be ready to step up immediately for Coach Hilliard and the Tigers as she will be counted on to LEAD! I'm exited for her and her growth coming and Bollinger was exceptional for West Texas CyFair Elite this summer. Stay tuned!
10-ADDY BURNS
NEW HOME HIGH SCHOOL

Addy Burns!! She is on the National radar now and it is well-deserved as she has been lighting up the summer circuit and now will help lead Coach Martin's New Home team that is ranked #2 in the state in 2A ball, A.K.A. The JUNGLE! She has grit, heart and determination to get better; which is scary because she can already play with the best of them! Another huge season and summer is on the way for Addy and she should have some more offers coming her way to add to the few that she has received previously!
11-LOGAN HEARD
IDALOU WILDCATS

Logan can flat-out ball! She has committed to West Texas A&M in the 2023 class and anchors an Idalou team that comes in ranked second in Texas in 3A behind the Champions from last year; The Fairfield Eagles! Heard will have more of a larger role for the Wildcats this year as the team is young, but I expect her to have an All-State season in Wildcat country.
12-IZZY PALMER
LUBBOCK HIGH SCHOOL

Izzy has been injured this summer and I haven't got to see her much, but if what she looked like in their scrimmage on Saturday is any indication of what she is going to play like this season, that's scary for any opponents that her and her Lubbock High team will face starting Saturday! She has handles, high IQ, a consistent jumper and is a great teammate as well. She gets heated in the moment sometimes, but that's the mark of a competitor. Once she handles that aspect of the game she will become unstoppable. Palmer also picked up a couple of offers this summer including one from the Division One program of the University of Louisiana Monroe!
