💡There will be a lot of 806 teams that will be coming back to the pack in football.. 💡

Here’s 10 thoughts I have on 2022 806 Football.

1. Tascosa will be a title threat once again if they can get consistent play from their QB position. Hasn’t been the same since Plunk left. They have the best player in West Texas in Avion Carter and the best defensive unit in the 806..

2. Canadian will be in the State Semifinals in 3A DII.. Cavalier and the rest of those Wildcats were young last season.. They are ready now.. Lookout..

3. Amarillo is going to be good. Now, the Sandies are going to have to figure it out at quarterback and sure up the line but I believe in Coach Dunnam!

4. 2A DI will have trouble this season, besides Stratford. New Deal will be good, I think Sundown is a sleeper and I’m intrigued by Olton. But I don’t see anyone beating Stratford.

5. 2-5A DI will be the best district in the 806 to keep an eye on. Tascosa, Coronado, LCP, Amarillo, Monterey, Abilene Cooper?!?! Whoah!

6. How far will Coronado go this year? There is going to be a lot of pressure on Jett Carroll to flourish. This is his 2nd year in Coach Birdwell’s system. Dave Campbell’s has Coronado missing the playoffs in their predictions.. That can’t be, right??

7. Who is going to be in the backfield for Lubbock-Cooper along with that exceptional Offensive Line led by Coach Hays? Who’s going to be the quarterback? Chambers will be the tailback, and then you got Ritz; who took four kick returns back for touchdowns last year.. Excited to see how LCP does this season.

8. Wellington and Gruver will probably play eachother in the 2A DII State Semifinals. Tradition and discipline matters. Both of these teams have that.

9. Who is going to be the surprise team or teams this season? Sunray? Idalou, Littlefield? Vega? Monterey? Frenship? Floydada?

10. I honestly think we will have two or three teams make it to state. I’m looking at Tascosa, Canadian and Wellington or Gruver. Stratford could easily get there too..
