ROOSEVELT CROSS COUNTRY DOES WELL AT TALL CITY INVITATIONAL

    August 26th,2023 

The Boys Varsity Team at Lubbock Roosevelt is set to make some noise this season.  Today they competed in their season opener at the Tall City Invitational in Midland.  They finished as a team in Second Place out of the Twenty-Four Teams entered. The First place team only edged them out by four points.

Their Average Team time was an impressive 17:44.60 for the 5K distance with Four of the Top Five Finishers all setting a new PR. 

3rd - Justice Jackson - Junior - 17:00                                  6th - Dax Mahan - Junior - 17:14  

9th - Billy Bond - Sophomore -17:42                                       14th - Blake Castillo - Junior - 18:00                                    26th - Jose Valdez - Freshman - 18:46

Three of our Five finished in the Top Ten and there were a total of 220 Finishers.  


They are the Defending District Champions for 2-3A and also qualified for the 3A State Championship Meet finishing Fourth in Region One last year.  They plan to repeat their trip to Old Settlers Park in November where they plan to finish the Season better than Twelfth Place in the state for 3A like they did last season.  

They will host their next contest at Lubbock Roosevelt High School at the “Third Annual Acuff Cotton Field Trot” Three Mile on Saturday, September 2nd
