MONDAY MORNING BUMP-AND-RUN: MULESHOE MAKES STATEMENT, LUBBOCK CHRISTIAN IMPRESSES

Week six had a few huge games on the schedule and teams like Muleshoe and Amarillo had significant wins on Thursday and Friday. Lubbock Christian, Lubbock-Cooper and others also had some key wins in the week too. Here is our bump-and-run recap of week six in 806 High School Football.

How about Muleshoe taking down Brownfield, 39-37 on Friday to knock the Cubs out of the undefeated conversation! Coach Richards is a great coach with a ton of energy and it's rubbing off on his players! The Mules' have another tough test coming this Friday when they will line up against Bushland; the team to beat in this Region as far as 3A DI is concerned. This is also week one of district play for both teams as well! Should be electric Friday Night!

#3 Lubbock Christian had one of the best games of the year so far in their 34-28 win over #1 Sacred Muenster Heart in Overtime. Big plays, full crowd, and the no-quit attitude prevailed for Coach Softley and the Eagles in my opinion, the district title game. Bax Townsend had another great game! Somebody is going to get a steal when he signs with them! For some reason, I think we will see this game again later!

The craziest game of the weekend had to be the Lubbock-Cooper 15-14 win over Coronado, right? Coronado controlled the game all the way until the last three minutes, and that's when all chaos ensued. Coronado ran a couple of drives, but didn't force the Pirates to use any of their timeouts. That came back to hunt them as the Pirates blocked their punt and completed a pass to get to the Coronado 33. After that Cub Patton, who had a field goal blocked earlier, made a 50-yard field goal at the buzzer to win the game. Lubbock-Cooper is 5-1 now and 1-0 in district 2-5A DI play and Coronado is 1-5 and 0-2 in district play. Coronado has to be the best 1-5 team in the 806; don't be surprised if they go on a run and finish out with wins the rest of the way. They have all the tools to be great and Coach Mann will figure it out.
