LITTLEFIELD, SPEARMAN TO GET TESTS TOMORROW IN SMALL SCHOOL 806 FOOTBALL

We are already on to week four of 806 football and some teams have stood out and look to be contenders in the football spectrum, but we will see how some teams fare with stiffer competition coming. I Gotta to give a thumbs up to teams like Stratford, Gruver, Ropes, Roosevelt and Littlefield for looking great so far, so… here comes week four and my top few games that may determine the course of some teams, and how we should look at these teams, going forward.
1.LITTLEFIELD (3-0) AT IDALOU (3-0)
This game will tell me a few things early: How good are the Wildcats under Coach Jimmy Thomas? They are 3-0, but they were down 20-0 to Post until an heroic comeback by the Wildcats to put up 21-unanswered in the 4th to win it, 21-20. Another thing this game should tell me quickly; Is Idalou going to win this game convincingly and really make a statement in the process. I believe in the ‘LOU! The Wildcats can’t get caught looking ahead to next week’s huge game against New Deal at home so they need to handle their business tomorrow. This game will go well for Littlefield if they can hang around until the fourth. Idalou is not Post; if they go up 20-0, they might put 20 more up too!
2. VEGA (3-0) VS SPEARMAN (2-1)
I was really looking forward to a battle in their game, and even without National star recruit, Brenen Thompson, this still will be a great game coming! Ryan Grawunder has really looked exceptional for Vega this year and I look for him to continue his great play tomorrow. Can Spearman secure enough points to win, or even keep it close? Vega is the real deal and I thought they would have a good shot of winning this game when both teams were full-strength. Now with an injured Lynx team coming in, it’ll be fun to see how Spearman adjusts and if they can pull the win out tomorrow.
3. BUSHLAND (1-2) VS STRATFORD (3-0)
So, how about Bushland? Down 35-7 to the 3rd-ranked team in 3A DII in Canadian at the half, to come back and defeat the Wildcats at their house, 49-42 in overtime! The reward for the Falcons, #6 Stratford‘s Elks; who are on a roll and look very good this season! Can Bushland score early and keep the pressure on the Elks to hopefully force them out of their ground-and-pound scheme? Should be a good one!
4. DIMMITT (2-1) VS ROOSEVELT (3-0)
Ok. I have to be honest here: I think this is a bigger game for Dimmitt than Roosevelt. Roosevelt has big goals this season and they are playing at a high level in non-district play again. Alex Trevino scored on offense, defense, special teams and at the waterboy position lol! But seriously, Coach Landers’ team is cooking! Can Dimmitt get a win? Also, if Dimmitt loses, will it be close?
A couple of other games in looking at…
Childress (2-0) vs Shallowater (2-1)
Childress is one of the best teams in 3A DII and this would say a lot about Shallowater if they can get this win at home. It’s going to be monumental if the Mustangs can win this one because Childress is pretty damn good!
Hale Center (2-1) vs Clarendon (3-0)
Can Clarendon keep their offense going tomorrow against Hale Center? This will be an interesting contest as I think if the Owls can get some pass protection, they can get some receivers open down the field. Clarendon, if locked in, they’ll control the line of scrimmage and should come out with a win on Friday.
