It’s been about 18 hours since witnessed one of the greatest games of the season between Monterey’s Lady Plainsmen and Lubbock-Cooper’s Lady Pirates! A game that came down to the final minute where Monterey went on a 16-3 run late in the fourth to come to within two points from tying the game at 64 until Lubbock-Cooper made four clutch free throws to seal the contest and win, 68-62!

So, now what’s next for the district? Well, a lot. Now that the Lady Pirates have clinched the district and Monterey is locked in as the 2-seed for the playoff chase, what happens with the third and fourth seed? It’s a lot of scenarios coming up.

Coronado split their season series with both Lubbock High and Abilene Wylie so if the Mustangs tie with any of those teams, they will play each-other on Thursday or Friday to determine seeding, or who’s getting in the playoffs. Lubbock High plays Abilene Wylie Monday and they need that win. If they don’t get it, they may be in trouble as far as missing the playoffs as they play Monterey on Tuesday! The same can be said for Coronado; who will have a huge contest against the District Champs from Woodrow on Tuesday after they take on Abilene Cooper on Monday; a team that hasn’t won a district game.

Stay tuned as playoff matchups will start being announced and more as we get on the way for the championship road to the AlamoDome!
