JESS HOEL IS WORKING AND THE NATION IS NOW TAKING NOTICE..

When I first met Jess Hoel, he was garnering All-District honors at Frenship High School as a Freshman. From that moment on, I knew he was a special talent. What I didn’t expect was just how hard he works to get what he wants!

Hoel has traveled all over the country attending various camps, works out with a quarterback GURU at the West Texas Passing Academy, plays baseball (and he is damn good) and plays 7-on-7 football for the upstart West Texas Elite squad. This has been a great week for Hoel as he has secured his first Division One offer from the Army!

I caught up with Jess and asked him his thoughts on his hard work paying off, his work ethic, and what’s next for the Abernathy QB1! Here is our interview below!

JASON PEARSON

#1. Well, you got your first DI offer to Army! How does it feel to get such an offer from a prestigious university?

JESS HOEL

There’s really no words to describe it, it’s a dream come true to be able to play Division 1 sports. The university is very special. Honestly just knowing that there are colleges who believe in me enough to give me a scholarship is incredible. It’s a relief knowing that all the hard work is being noticed and paying off in every aspect.

#2. What have you been working on this summer to get better? Working with the West Texas Passing Academy has taught you what?

JESS HOEL

This summer is all about bettering myself to put my team in better situations to win. Getting stronger, faster, more precise with my throws and more accurate are my priorities. Watching film will also be a big part of what i do; it’ll give me a jump on what to expect. The West Texas Passing Academy is second to none and I’m glad to be apart of it. The biggest thing I’ve learned from Coach Griffith is the harder I work now, the easier the games are. I’ve always been told “practice so hard the games are easy.”

3. Starting for Abernathy has been great for you. What did you learn in your first year leading this team and what will you need to improve on for your Senior season

JESS HOEL

Last year I learned how to lead in a way I never knew how to. It forced me to grow up and play at a very high level. Being the quarterback, I have to be the spark. I need to be the up beat high energy guy. I need to be better in every aspect; I can’t be complacent.

JASON PEARSON

4. You’re also good at baseball! In what ways does baseball help you on the gridiron?

JESS HOEL

Baseball keeps the competitive nature. I never am not competing and baseball gets very intense. It helps me be able to throw in all arm slots and it also helps with my arm strength!

JASON PEARSON

5. For any other teams looking, and they are... what will they get in Jess Hoel; on-and-off the field?

JESS HOEL

When a team gets Jess Hoel they will get a competitor: Someone who hates to lose, someone who isn’t afraid to put in the extra work to put the team in position for success. Someone who will give everything he’s got every time he steps on the field! Off the field, they are getting a natural born leader. Someone who takes pride in what he does no matter the circumstances. Very focused and still strives for greatness!
