FOR ZYION, A BOUNCEBACK IS IMMINENT IN 2019

I remember watching Zy practice last year and thinking, "This young man can ball!" After Zyion established himself as a great Sophomore that was going to get some run for Monterey's offense, he suffered an injury. In talking with his mom, she detailed the frustrations he was having with the injury and trying his best to get cleared throughout the season.

Let's skip to this summer where Zy has got clearance to return to the gridiron, has been working extensively to get to full-strength and he scored a touchdown in Monterey's scrimmage against Big Spring on Friday Night! I talked with Zy and asked him about the tough season last fall and the expectations of him and his team this season as we are all looking at the Plainsmen as one of the best teams in 5A DI!

Here is our interview below:

#1 How did it feel to finally get cleared and back to football activities this summer?

Zyion Martin

It felt good being cleared and being able to get back out on the field with my brothers and put on a show for my friends and family with my brothers .

Jason Pearson

#2 What was the most difficult circumstance you dealt with during your injury

Zyion Martin

The most difficult thing was football being taken away from me; me loving the game and that being taken away was the most difficult thing.

Jason Pearson

#3 You guys have a great team, what do you think your team needs to work on in order to achieve your goals his season?

Zyion Martin

We got a great team we just got to play our game and just finish the game how we start and having brotherhood because without brothers and us not riding for each other and being selfish is not going to win us the game, but we just got to get better each and every day and just play like how we know how and finish along with just staying healthy.

Jason Pearson

#4 Who is you favorite NFL player and why?

Zyion Marton

My favorite player is Tyreek Hill because his route running and his speed is just something I look up to to take tips from him and put into my game to help me. Yeah, that's my favorite player.

Jason Pearson

#5 What do you tell another kid in your situation that’s injured on how to still contribute to the team?

Zyion Martin

What I tell other people is that God made this happen for a reason. He's got good things store for you, you just got to take that and work hard; it'll make u stronger and it's just a minorr set back for major come back.

Jason Pearson

#6 The biggest game you’re lookin forward to playing this season?

Zyion Martin

The biggest game I’ll say I’m looking forward to is LCP and Coronado: those are the games I’m looking for!
