CHAVEZ, MAUPIN LEAD ALL-806 TEAM FOR 2022

What a great season this has been; from the arrival and emergence of Monterey’s Aaliyah Chavez, to Amarillo, Idalou, Sands and Gruver‘s State runs with Gruver and Sands ending up as Champions. So now we will present the All-806 team and the MVP of the 806 for 2022 below!

806 GIRLS MVP:

Aaliyah Chavez: Monterey High School

A sensational person off the court: Very humble, mannerable and the hardest worker in the gym anywhere in America. Now with that out the way, let’s talk about her on the court accolades. Aaliyah reached 1,000 points in her FRESHMAN season! Wow! She was named the 4-5A district MVP, averaged 26 points a game, made over 100 three-pointers, led the state in assists per game and helped Monterey reach their first Regional Tournament since 1996! Guess where Chavez was the day after their Regional Semifinal loss to Lake Dallas.. In the Lab working and doing whatever she can to get better. That’s why she is the top-ranked player in the country in her class; Aaliyah loves the game and loves this lifestyle that %99 percent of the world can’t consummate. There are levels to this basketball world as I found that out for myself while covering Aaliyah this year and we all can’t wait to see what she does this summer; not next year, but this summer with her Nike EYBL team. The marathon continues! let’s not forget that Aaliyah also has a 3.7 GPA in the classroom!
