AMARILLO, LUBBOCK-CHRISTIAN FACE ROAD TESTS IN TOP GAMES OF WEEK SIX..IN THE 806!

This week is usually reserved for bye weeks and preparations for the district season for most of the teams in the 806 area but there are some districts like 2-5A DI that have already begun play, and teams like Lubbock Christian who have a great game scheduled for week six. Here are our top games of the weekend, starting tomorrow!

Lubbock Christian VS TULIA

LCHS 5-0 VS TULIA 3-1

The Lubbock Christian Eagles are flying high, and blowing out teams too as they have scored at least 40 points in every game this season en route to an 5-0 record! Alex Lack has went nuts in the last three games with 17 total touchdowns! Players like Zeke Lott, Alex Timmons, Cash Howard, and more are making waves for Lubbock Christian as well. Now, here comes Tulia next; a team that beat Lubbock Christian last year in a shootout in Lubbock. The Hornets' have been stinging since their opening-weekend loss to Panhandle and are now 3-1 in the process. This game will come down to Tulia and their efforts to slow the Eagles down. It can be done, but man..it's going to be tough!!

Lubbock Christian 2020 ATH: Alex Lack

When I asked Lubbock Christian's Alex Lack about the keys to beating a very tough Tulia team he stated, "Just play our game! If we prepare like we always do and execute like we know we can, we will have a great game!"

MONTEREY VS AMARILLO (THURSDAY)

MONTEREY 2-3 VS AMARILLO 2-2

Well, as I've stated all season, this is a big stretch for the Plainsmen. They started off this three-game stretch with a loss to Abilene Cooper, 70-49. So, the second game is tomorrow night against Amarillo who is well-rested and ready for the Plainsmen. Will Maynard and Davin Lemmons are starting to hit their stride right in time and Coach Dunnam will have the Sandies juiced up! Monterey needs this win, just for the overall season's confidence and to try to have a position to get a home field advantage game in the playoffs. The weather will be a factor as well, and it will be a thriller like last year!

Amarillo 2020 WR, Davin Lemmons

I asked Davin Lemmons from Amarillo the keys to Amarillo getting a big win tomorrow he said, "Gotta come out fast for sure. We have the right game plans in to win, (we) just have to execute. Get them down early and stay on the gas!"

Coronado VS Abilene Cooper

AB Cooper (5-0) vs Coronado (3-2)

This game, in my humble opinion, is for the District title. 2-5A DI is always competitive, and Coronado is always in the thick of it; either for a title, or a share of the title. This game is going to be huge for both teams' aspirations in the playoffs and for seeding. Sawyer Robertson has hit his groove for the Mustangs and went white-hot last week with a 443 yard-6TD performance... In the first half! There will be a bigger challenge waiting the week as the Cougars are back after a down year in 2018 with their 5-0 start including wins over Grapevine and Keller! This will be an 8:00pm start as the second game of a double header so there will be fireworks into maybe midnight on Friday. The super matchup is on the way!

Coronado 2020 ATH/WR Eli Martinez

I caught up with Coronado Wide Receiver Eli Martinez and asked him what the mustangs needed to do to get a win over Abilene Cooper and he responded, "We have to play as a team and execute in all aspects of the game. The Offense has to score a lot of points and the defense has to stop the counter. Simple. "CU we back baby."

Here is the full schedule below and we have some good games going on this week despite over 75 percent of our teams taking a week off.
