806 NO-HUDDLE RECAP: ESTACADO, PANHANDLE IMPRESS IN WEEK FOUR ACTION

This week was loaded with big games all across the board with most of the contests coming down to the wire! Here is the recap of all the big games that were played last weekend!

We have two teams here that look very good! Both had early season losses to lower-classified teams, but seems to have figured it out just in time: Tascosa and Frenship. Both teams are 3-1 and had very impressive wins in week four. The Tigers routed El Paso Andress, 58-3. Now, let’s not forget about their 61-point performance last week as well! 119 points in back-2-back weeks and their defense has a shutout and a 3-point outing in the first four weeks.. Frenship is on a roll and already have matched their win total from last year! Tascosa took the trip up to El Paso to take on Americas and won a thriller, 31-28. Their defense also had a goal-line stand at the end to hold off Americas to move to 3-1! Both of these teams may play each other for an outright district title on November 7th.

Right off the bat I got for give some love to Lubbock-Cooper‘s Lane Bloomer; who came in midway through the third quarter for the Pirates and led them to a critical victory over Monterey on Thursday, 21-13. Just last year he quit the team before returning this season and being named a team captain! Coronado looked like their old selves again in their rain-shortened win over Clovis, 27-16. Amarillo, Palo Duro and Lubbock High got wins this week as well!

The Matadors went into a hostile environment and pulled out a big win Friday in Hereford, 23-16. How about Jeremiah Essix who had three sacks on the night and Papa absolutely controlled the line of scrimmage on the defensive side of the ball for the ‘Mats. Jay’Lon Dobbins looked very comfortable all night and had some great plays to go with his two passing touchdowns! Dumas shut out Plainview 56-0 in their homecoming and Canyon put up 50 in their win over Caprock; who’s is now 0-4 on the season, which is shocking to say the least. Dalhart came through with a big two-point conversion to beat Shallowater late, 35-34 as well.

3A

Our top two teams in 3A in the 806, Canadian and Bushland, both won easily against Fritch and Perryton, respectfully and continue their climbs toward undefeated seasons. Friona won over Roosevelt, Brownfield got their first win for Coach Flores and Tulia has ran off three-straight victories as well. Slaton got a big win over Coahoma and Littlefield, headed by some great running and timely catches by Juan Rios, amongst others knocked Tahoka from the unbeatens with their 28-19 win.

2A

How about Post?!?! The Antelopes went into Abernathy and had the lead on the ranked Antelopes, 14-13 before the game was called due to lightning and weather. Ashton Jefferson had an electric Kickoff return touchdown in the contest as well! New Deal won, Panhandle blasted Vega, 49-6 and Wellington rebounded off their loss to Abernathy with a big 28-12 win over West Texas! Stratford really put it to Spearman while Ralls and Sudan stayed undefeated with wins on Friday. Check back next week as we will recap the 806 once again!
