6A-5A WEEK ONE PREVIEW:AMARILLO AND MONTEREY HAVE TOUGH TESTS AHEAD

It feels like it's been forever but it's finally here: 806 High School Football! Last season, all of the 6A teams (Only Frenship) and 5A squads were eliminated from the playoffs in the second round by some superior teams from the Metroplex, but this year's slate of teams could have a better outcome. Let's look at all the games for Week One in 806 play, and as they say; let the games begin!

6A:

Frenship vs Coronado

Friday, Aug 25th 7:05pm

Wolfforth, TX

This game could be close, or Frenship could really make a statement with a convincing win at home. Last season, the Mustangs secured one of their three wins against Frenship to open the season before missing the playoffs, while the Tigers won eight of their next nine games after their defeat to finish 8-2 in the regular season. Frenship's Hudson Hutcheson comes in as the best quarterback in the 806 and his teammate Leyton Stone is the best receiver in the 806 as well and holds four Division One offers in his 2025 class.

This game will come down to turnovers and pace. Yes, I said pace because Frenship runs a blazing fast offense and they will score quickly. Can Coronado keep up with their high-speed offense, or will the Mustangs scheme different and try to run with Demarion Finch and keep the Tigers lethal offense on the sideline? Isaiah Vazquez will be making his first varsity start as a Junior for Coronado Friday and this may be the most hostile environment he will see this entire season. Will he be up for the challenge?
