10 PLAYERS IN THE 806 THAT ARE ABOUT TO BREAKOUT THIS SEASON

Updated: Jul 26, 2019

We have some great players in the 806; some with 24 offers, and some with Division two offers. But, there are players that are about to breakout onto the scene this fall and may even garner some offers in the process. Here are ten players that I think will be statewide names by the end of the season.

#1 KEVONDRICK CARR- CORONADO MUSTANGS (2021 CB)

Has he turned the corner? I think so. This summer has brought out the best in Carr as he has shown strides in his willingness to adapt and really master the secondary positions for Coronado and his corner skills have put him near the top of the list in the 806 for the best corners we have. We know he has the speed and so does all of the Metroplex as Carr ran the fastest 40 at the biggest cornerback camp in Dallas a couple of weeks ago. Don't be surprised if he has at least six picks this season and makes noise for an All-State team.

#2 LUCAS BYRD- HEREFORD HIGH SCHOOL(C/O 2020 OL/DL)

I gotta admit, I was on the late train to Lucas. Now I'm all the way on the front seat with my seatbelt buckled! This young man has a high motor and some quick feet! Very strong as well at the mesh-point! The last two camps I have seen him in, he has dominated the competition and deserves to be mentioned amongst the top lineman in the 806. He will get some offers...His time is now!

#3 JESS HOEL- N/A (C/O 2022 QB/ATH)

Jess has a cannon of an arm, but the man can scoot as well. He is very fast along with having great presence in the pocket. He lit it up for the Tigers last year when he got his shot and wherever he lands he will have an immediate impact! The humble and hard-working ways that he possesses are about to pay off big time.

#4 TRENTON WHITE: MONTEREY PLAINSMEN (C/O 2022 TB)

Trenton really impressed in SpringBall and will be a major player for the Monterey Plainsmen Offense that has weapons all over the field and some lofty expectations this fall. He runs angry and will be picking up offers early and often!

#5 DYLAN JERDEN- NEW DEAL HS (C/O 2020 TE/LB)

I Can't tell you how proud I am of Dylan and his progress this summer! He has lost at least 20 pounds and looks very fit as this is the year where they lean on him heavily to put some points on the board as well as making multiple stops each game on defense. He is ready for it all and I think he will attack it admirably.. He will have a monster season for the Lions!

#6 MAJOR EVERHART- TASCOSA HIGH SCHOOL (C/O 2022 TB)

He is already on the Regional Radar as he has received a Division One offer from Stephen F. Austin a couple of months ago. Expect him to really have an outstanding season as a tailback in Tascosa's dangerous run attack.

#7 TREYSON DILWORTH- PALO DURO (C/O 2021 TB/FS/ATH)

Treyson is lightning fast, and built like a tank. He is used at multiple positions and in multiple packages for both sides of the ball for Palo Duro. He should see more time at tailback this fall and that will be a big boost to the Dons' offense as he can take it to the house quickly with one block. Dangerous young man coming back for PD!

#8 JACK MCKAY- CANYON HS (C/O 2021 WR)

I didn't get to see Jack all summer due to baseball, but he is very good at football too. He will be counted on to make big plays as the prime time wide receiver and he will be up to the challenge. Who is the new quarterback coming in to start after a big loss of Lawton Rikel? That will also play a role on how he and the entire team does.

#9 PEYTON MCNUTT- PLAINVIEW HIGH SCHOOL (TB/LB, C/O 2020)

Peyton was on a roll last year until he got hurt. He was lethal in the backfield for the Bulldogs and he may play both ways this season with a younger team in the "view". If he can stay healthy, this should be his breakout season for the Bulldogs. No one is outworking him, I can tell you that with confidence!

#10 BRENEN THOMPSON- SPEARMAN LYNX (C/O 2022 QB)

This young man is a serious difference maker on both sides of the ball for the Lynx of Spearman. Can he stay healthy? If so, he will be the most elusive player on the field in most of his games. It'll be a movie when he touches the ball.. Lookout!
