806’S “SUPER SIX” RETURNING OFFENSIVE LINEMAN IN THE 806..TOP 5 TEXAS OL, TOO..

As media folks get all excited about a quarterback delivering a bomb to the receiver, or a tailback springing free for a long touchdown run, let’s not forget: those plays don’t happen without an offensive lineman making a block, picking up a blitz, or taking out a defensive lineman during the play. The value of a great offensive lineman is immeasurable to any team and their success, or non-success. If you don’t believe me, just look at the contracts the offensive lineman are getting in the National Football League. With…

FOUR THINGS THAT STOOD OUT TO ME DURING 2017 SPRING FOOTBALL IN THE 806..

Well, Spring Ball 2017 is over for the “6”..What did we learn from the 18 practices these 5A and 6A teams held over May? A lot. How about Frenship having their first-ever Spring practices and game under new management, I mean, new head coach in Northcutt and Lubbock-Cooper practicing and playing at their middle school field due to new turf being installed on their main field. Coronado opened up the spring by trying to find new playmakers in the secondary and which receivers would replace Chance Fair and Noah Sifrit…

806’S SUPER SIX RETURNING QUARTERBACKS FOR 2017..JAELYN LEADS THE WAY…

Nationally, we have two quarterbacks that are gaining some looks in Qua Gray and Jaelyn Nolan; who has eight Division one offers and committed to Oklahoma State last month. The other four are very good and should get some DII looks, or maybe a DI offer in a rare case. Area-wide, the quarterbacks are going to be lethal and lead their teams to some productive seasons on the way to playoff berths and hopefully some deep runs in the tournament. Here are our “SUPER-SIX” quarterbacks returning to 806 competition this…

806HSSCTXHSFB: CORONADO MUSTANGS 2017 TEAM PAGE: STANGS’ RELOADED FOR ’17

Let’s start off by giving Coronado some love for the season they had last year… Going 9-1 in the regular season with their only loss to a great Lubbock-Cooper squad, 35-30. Their playoff runs with wins over Caprock and El Paso Chapin was also impressive, and almost spectacular as they were within a point of Colleyville Heritage at the half, 28-27 before losing their Regional Quarterfinal game 43-34. The Mustangs lose two first-team all-state players in Mason Montoya and Christian Hayes, and also a second team all-state receiver in Noah…

MARK ADAMS….OUR 2016-17 806 STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR… “LIONHEARTED”

Let’s start this story off by mentioning Mark Adams in 5’5″ and weighs 145 pounds… What a year for Mark….Wait…What a career for Mark Adams from New Deal High School! His Sophomore and Junior seasons he competed and contributed to the Lions’ success on the football field, and on the track where the Lions won 2A state titles the previous two years. This season as I went to go visit the Lions at two-a-days in August, I saw Mark at his regular position of wide receiver where he caught 31…

#TXHSFB CHAMPIONSHIPS NOW 4-DAY EVENT IN 2017, 2A DI STATE SEMIS AFFECTED

Besides the State High School football championships not having four games in three days as it has now stretched out to four, the main schedule change that affected us was the 2A State Semifinal schedule will be moved up due to UIL 5-Day Rule, stating a team can’t play two games in five days. Teams like Abernathy, Stinnett, Panhandle, and Post could be forced to deal with this rule directly. Great that the UIL made this change so the games won’t be carrying on into the late nights, but how…

806 FEATURE: I STATE MY CASE FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES TO BE ABLE TO FREELY TRANSFER….

Think about this for a second..There was 16 coaching changes in the 806 area just this year; from Frenship’s Coach NorthCutt from Sachse, to Wellman-Union and Coach Joseph Hood at the 1A (SIX-MAN) level. Some due to retirement or reassignments of their previous coaches, and some moving on for a better opportunity. But, the point here is…these coaches didn’t get penalized like a student would if they moved to a different school for a better opportunity, or if their new coach has a different philosophy that doesn’t fit with that…
