Another week passes and Idalou wins another thriller; that has come to be the standard in 3A football the last decade or so as the Wildcats have been the example of success across the state for all others to follow. What a week in 4A Football! Let’s get straight to it…How about Bushland putting an end to Canadian’s 31-game winning streak with a 38-35 win; a win that took all night as they did not start third quarter play until 11:00pm! In week one for 3-5A, there was a mixed bag of results for all the squads that played. Amarillo and Lubbock-Cooper’s games was called in the second half due to lightning; the second-consecutive year that the Pirates first game was a no contest. Cooper was dominating the game in terms of yardage, but Jarret Doege had thrown three interceptions in the first half. The week started on Thursday for our two 6A teams when Tascosa beat Palo Duro, 44-14. King Doerue had an impressive game while the defense shut down the Dons for most of the game.  Frenship won their game over El Paso Montwood, 24-14 behind Garrison Johnson’s 219 yards and two scores on the ground. The Mustangs have went 58-10 in the last five years under Coach Maxfield and want to continue their winning ways.
