CADE BARNARD LEADS A DANGEROUS CLASS OF 806 LINEBACKERS RETURNING IN ’17

Last season, we had some unbelievable linebackers that have moved on to the next level in their careers like Mason Montoya, who was first-teal all state in 5A at the linebacker position. Nevertheless, we do have some great returning field generals including a Sophomore MaxPreps’ All-American back for his Junior season, and a linebacker who has over 15 Division One offers. Here are our top 10 returning linebackers in the 806 for the 2017 campaign. #1 CADE BARNARD- SEMINOLE INDIANS Alright.. 193 tackles, three sacks, an interception and 534 rushing…

WHAT ARE WE DOING TO COMPETE IN 4A-6A? WHEN WILL THE DROUGHT END IN FOOTBALL?

I was doing some research on our teams that have last won state football titles in 4A-6A and came up with this: Coronado and Monterey don’t have a title in their history and Lubbock High’s last title was in the 50’s. Amarillo’s last title was in the 50’s and Estacado beat Refugio in 1968 for their only title. So, I ask, what needs to be done so we can compete? It can’t be that the Metroplex and Centex just have better athletes than us, that excuse just can’t cut it anymore.…

2017 1-4A DI PREVIEW: ALL ARE ALREADY IN THE PLAYOFFS, HOW WILL THEY FINISH?

District 1-4A DI was easily one of the best in the 806 last year with three dominant teams in Levelland, who won the district, Estacado, and Pampa with Borger bringing up the rear. Can Borger close the gap on the other three teams as it looks like once they’ll square off against Andrews in the first round of the postseason?…

WESTERNERS WILL RELY ON EXPERIENCE IN 2017 AS ANOTHER TOUGH ROAD AWAITS.

Lubbock High’s Westerners, led by Coach Jason Strunk will never be questioned for scheduling or effort; on, and off the field. Which is why they will eventually be a team that will be a major factor in whatever district they reside in. But, for right now, it’s tough sledding ahead this fall as the Westerners will face a playoff team from 2016 in every game except their matchup with San Angelo Lakeview; the other team besides the Westerners that missed the playoffs in 4-5A. What will we expect from the…
