2-4A PLAYOFF BLOG: ESTACADO MAKING BASKETBALL “GREAT AGAIN”, LAMESA, SEMINOLE ADVANCE

As the Bi-District playoff round of basketball has come and gone, 2-4A won three of their four matches against 1-4A. The only loss came from Levelland’s Lobos, who fell to Perryton, 57-56. In a game where the Lobos started slow, they fought back and had a six point lead heading into the fourth quarter over the Rangers. But, in the fourth the Lobos just couldn’t get out of their own way and lost a heartbreaker to end their season on the hardwood. Estacado beat Borger by 20 points in a…

2-4A BLOG: ALL SEEDS SET AS LAMESA SAVES ITS SEASON..MATS WIN THRILLER

What a night in 2-4A! Well, I say that every night these teams square off against one another as this district is proving to be the toughest in Texas. Brownfield had a slight chance to get into the playoffs with two victories and two Seminole losses. But before Seminole’s game against Estacado got to halftime, the Cubs were eliminated with an 86-84 loss to the Golden Tors in Overtime. A loss that was shocking since the Cubs were up by 21 points in the fourth quarter before Lamesa rallied back…

“CAM” I GET A WITNESS? GONZALES PEAKING AT RIGHT TIME FOR MATS AS SEMINOLE AWAITS

Lamesa versus Estacado is always a great game, but the latest installment may have been the best; well, at least the best for Cam Gonzales of the Estacado Matadors. Moving into Estacado district in the offseason from a successful run as the point guard on a starting team that made an appearance at the state tournament in 2016 from Levelland, it looks as if it took a while for the Matador players to adjust to his style, as did Cam adjusting to the Matador way of playing their uptempo style….

2-4A DII BLOG: SEMINOLE CLINCHES SHARE OF DISTRICT, LAMESA LOSES AGAIN WHILE MATS BLITZ

Well, look what we have here… Seminole has clinched a share of 2-4A DII’S coveted title with a chance to win it outright with either a win over Estacado or Brownfield in the next two games. How you ask? Inside domination and clutch outside shooting from the Indians in every key situation. Reese has vastly improved his inside game to add to his already solid 16 foot jumper that is ice-cold. Cade Barnard is also laying dimes all over the court while the Carter boys are lethal when left open…

2-4A DII BLOG: SEMINOLE SENDS NOTICE TO DISTRICT: COME CATCH US…

In another crazy week in 2-4A DII basketball, there was a message sent loud and clear by Seminole: Come catch us, because we’re not falling behind. Anyone. Period. The blowout of Denver City Tuesday was expected, but the domination of Lamesa, a team that beat them in their first matchup, 69-65 was surprising. Not surprising to me that they won, but how they did it: with an all-around assault that lasted all game long in their 80-72 win. Reese Moore scored 28 points in the contest, but Carter Johnson and…
